Candi Garcia Shares How Max Muscle Changed Her Life!

Posted in: Testimonials  on Tuesday, March 4, 2014

My name is Candi Garcia and in September, 2011, I went into my doctor’s office for a long overdue physical. To my astonishment my doctor told me, “Candi something has to change!”  I weighed 289lbs and didn’t realize how far off track I had gone. I went home with those words replaying over and over in my head… “Candi something has to change!”

Although everything else in my check up came back normal I knew I had to do something. So, I did like anyone else and cut back on some of the junk and tried to stay away from the fast food. I went on walks every once and a while and lost a few pounds.  I was satisfied at that point and really never stepped back on a scale. My clothes fit better so I thought all was good.

Sometime later after hearing Dr. Oz suggest Raspberry Ketone as the next great fat loss ingredient, I decided to step into the Max Muscle store in Longmont, CO and that’s when I met Scott, the owner.  Once Scott got the Raspberry Ketone in the store he gave me a call and I went in almost immediately to pick it up and get started with my next phase of weight loss.  This is when I met Dawn and after spending some time speaking with her on some of the keys to HEALTHY weight loss and proper nutrition, we agreed it would be a good idea to sit down for a more formal Nutrition Consultation.

I went in to meet with Dawn at Max Longmont for my consult on February 18, 2012 and to my surprise, my weight was still out of control at 245 pounds with an outrageous BMI rating!  I sat down with Dawn for the consultation to go over my current habits and goals and realized that there were SEVERAL things I was doing that were greatly limiting my results.  A couple things that were difficult to comprehend were that I wasn’t eating enough and the choices I was making when I was eating needed to change.  Who knew I shouldn’t be eating “healthy” fruit all day.  I decided at that point that I was committed to making long lasting changes to get to where I wanted to be and signed up for a Max Nutrition Plan which meant getting a weekly meal plan based on my caloric needs and exercise regimen along with weekly follow-up meetings to take measurements, body fat%, weight, and adjust my plan accordingly.

With the proper meal plan and incorporating High 5 Protein, Glutamine and Emerge I made the commitment to what I was about to undertake and told myself I was on my way.  From that day forward I’ve never looked back!  Dawn gave me everything I needed to keep motivated over the next year. By simply following her suggested meal plans the weight started to just melt off and after about a month I started walking more and more every week. One day Dawn asked if I wanted to join her for a fitness challenge in Longmont and try some kick boxing classes.  I agreed and fell in love with this type of workout and soon found myself going to not only the kick boxing classes but boot camp classes as well.  Some days the “New Me” would do two-a-day workouts!

In May, 2012 during one of my weekly visits with Dawn, Scott told me they had a sponsorship available for a run in Longmont and asked if I would be interested.  I think I tried to come up with an excuse to not do it and told him I had to be at the Luv 4 Los renovation project early on that date and also made it “CLEAR” that all the miles I had been putting in were “walking” miles and not RUNNING.  He came right back at me and said, “We can sign you up for the walk that starts at 5:00am.” At that point I had to say, “Ok”. I gave him my info and continued talking with Dawn. On my way out of the store I stopped and asked Scott, “How far is this run/walk?”  He smiled and said, “It’s a half marathon”.  You can imagine at that point I about choked and came right back into the store trying to get out of it.  Dawn and Scott reassured me I could do it and told me, “All you have to do is walk Candi and we know you can do it. We’ll be there when you finish.”  The next thing I knew it was 4:30AM Saturday morning and there I was at the check in table getting my first ever race bib all the while thinking things like…“What the hell are you doing and who can you call to come pick you up when you start to die?” and…“Did you tell your kids you loved them just in case you do die?”

Needless to say, 13.1 miles and 3:34:26 later I had completed the half marathon and lived to tell about it. As promised, Scott and Dawn were there when I finished. I have ran several more races and I am training for my next half marathon hoping to complete a full by the end of the 2014 running season.

Even better news…I made another doctor visit in February of 2013 and the nurse thought I was my 22-year-old daughter!  I have lost 108lbs and I’m in a size 10.  I never imagined I would go from wearing a XXL to a Medium.  I personally feel I have a few pounds to go and know I can count on Dawn to get me through the next few months.  With the largest portion of my weight loss coming from working with Dawn and Scott at Max Muscle in Longmont, CO I feel like I owe them my life.  I’m not sure I can ever repay them for not only helping me get to where I am today but believing in me every step of the way.  Thank you to the Max Muscle Longmont Team and a very special heartfelt thank you to Scott and Dawn.  None of this would have been possible without you. Thank you for your support, guidance, encouragement and belief in me. I will be forever grateful and in your debt.
